Originally released in 2001, this 2016 Made In Germany Music reissue comes in a Digi-Pak with Original Artwork, a 20-Page Booklet and a Bonus Disc!

In 2016 the Made In Germany label’s run on the Klaus Schulze re-issue campaign is seriously underway with this and a sizable list of other classics (listed below), all available again as MIG pressings in smart Digi-Paks and most with a range of Bonus Tracks. There are more planned reissues to come between 2016 & 2017 AND some new titles are scheduled too!

Deleted for some time, this 2016 MIG pressing of the 2005 Triple Disc KS classic contains ‘live’ and studio tracks recorded with ASH RA’s Manuel Gottsching!

This version of the original double album (as did the 2005 release) comes complete with a Bonus Disc of previously unreleased ‘live’ tracks, where at least one features ASH RA’s Manuel Gottsching, who also plays on the forty-eight minute studio track of the same name on Disc 2 of the album.

So, let’s talk first about these Bonus Tracks…
The seven-minute opener: ‘Musique Abstract’ is just Schulze’s synthesizers set to a rampaging drums rhythm that sounds ten years ahead of its time, almost predating the more solid ambient-trance style rhythms that would become way more prevalent in later years. Either way, a solid and impressive opener!
After this is: ‘Return Of The Temple - 2’, a near fourteen-minute work that starts out in silent space synths mode with Schulze beginning the musical cosmic voyage, and as the synths hover, so the strains of Gottsching’s equally cosmic electric guitar slowly drift in. As the sound rises, a stuttering electro-percussive beat soon strikes up with the rhythms almost higher up in the mix than the keyboards, which are now relegated to backdrop mode as the chiming guitar chords, deep space and string synths all revolve around a wickedly addictive core rhythm.
At around ten minutes in, a solid, booming, sequencer rhythm begins as melodic lead synths now rise to the top and then the whole pattern changes to bring the track to its end in a stunning hail of choppy rhythms, spacey & melodic synths and chiming electric guitar – just superb stuff!
Finally, on this Bonus CD, you get the thirty-two minute track that is: ‘Out Of The Blue - 2’, a piece that, once again, starts with all manner of shifting, drifting cosmic synth flows that are all deep and dark.
The passage then rises to a climax, only to have the entire mood and structure changed with the arrival of a cascading, full-sounding Schulzian synth rhythm that introduces more rhythmic bliss from sequencers and electronic drum-style beats, around which ever building synth drones weave a magical spell.
The track continues with everything building and flowing superbly. The lead work revolves around the trademark mix of melody and rhythm as the sounds build, twist and turn to exquisite effect, with bass sequencers abounding and string synths flying.

The fact that this extra disc is worth the asking price on its own should not detract you from the main two discs of ‘In Blue’ which feature music that makes the album remain as one of Schulze’s most underrated releases of the 1990’s, with a seventy-eight minute first disc, and the forty-four minute Gottsching collaboration coupled with the thirty-four minute ‘Serenade In Blue’ on the 2nd Disc.

One of his best just got better!
